Cooking adventures in a small, closet sized, kitchen. – I came to realize that my meals were boring and that I had been eating the same few dishes over and over again for years. It was time for a change! I now spend my free time searching for, creating and trying tasty new recipes in my closet sized kitchen.
Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf
A Philly cheesesteak themed meatloaf with plenty of whiz and provolone, not to mention sauteed onions, green peppers and mushrooms!
Meatloaf is one of my favourite comfort foods and it’s fun to change up the flavours like in this one with a Philly cheesesteak theme! Philly cheesesteaks are sandwiches with sauteed beef and onions with either melted provolone cheese or cheese whiz and some common extras are sauteed green bell peppers and/or mushrooms. Meatloaf generally starts out with your ground meat, beef in this case, along with eggs and breadcrumbs which, help hold everything together, along with seasonings. The seasonings for this meatloaf begins with sauteed onions, green bell peppers and mushrooms, which are all finely diced so that they mix into the ground beef easily. Next up is the cheese whiz, Worcestershire sauce and ketchup which get mixed in throughout the meatloaf. The final component is the provolone cheese which I like to include in two different ways! The first way is as a solid chunk of cheese that is placed in the center of the meatloaf where it melts in the oven, turning liquid, just waiting to pour out when the loaf is sliced open! The second is that slices are placed on top after the meatloaf has cooked and broiled until it has melted all over the top of the meatloaf! Yum!
